OUR ANTEATER CATHOLIC CHAPLAIN

Fr. Martin Latiff is a priest of the Diocese of Orange. He studied theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, Michigan, and earned a Bachelor of Sacred Theology (S.T.B.) from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome.

Ordained to the priesthood in 2005, Fr. Martin has ministered throughout the United States, preaching numerous retreats and accompanying men and women—especially college students—through faith formation and spiritual direction.

Over the course of his priestly ministry, Fr. Martin has served as chaplain at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, university chaplain at the University of San Diego, one of the national chaplains for the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS), spiritual director at the University of Southern California Catholic Center, college chaplain for the Auraria Campus in Denver, and parochial vicar at Spirit of Christ Parish in Arvada, Colorado.

On July 1, 2026, Fr. Martin was appointed chaplain of the Anteater Catholic community at the University of California, Irvine.

Fr. Martin is passionate about helping students encounter Christ, deepen their Catholic faith, and discern God’s call for their lives.

The mission of FOCUS is to know Christ Jesus and to fulfill the Great Commission. FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, is a Catholic organization seeking to invite college students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. Our hope is to inspire and equip students for a life of Christ-centered evangelization, discipleship, and friendships.

As missionaries on the campus of UCI, along with the students involved in FOCUS discipleship, we lead multiple men’s and women’s Bible studies on a weekly basis which are open to anyone who desires to get involved. We are here to accompany you in your journey with Christ here at UCI!
